Najib arrives in Singapore for Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat



Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak arrived in Singapore today to attend the Eighth Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat, which starts Tuesday.
Najib, accompanied by his wife Rosmah Mansor, arrived at the Singapore Changi Airport at 2.21pm and was received by the Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Zulkifli Adnan and his wife, Siti Hawa Othman, as well as Singapore's Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport Ng Chee Meng and his spouse, Michelle Ng.
Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, will first pay a courtesy call to the Singapore's President Halimah Yacob at the Istana.
Accompanying Najib is the Malaysian delegation comprising Foreign Minister Anifah Aman; International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed; Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid; Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan; Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Noh Omar; Natural Resources and Environment Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar; Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin; Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed; Chief Secretary to the government of Malaysia Ali Hamsa as well as several high ranking officials.
Other than Ng, also expected to be present from Singapore’s side are Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan; Minister for Social and Family Development Desmond Lee; Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong; High Commissioner of Singapore to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon as well as several high ranking officials.


Later today, Najib, together with his counterpart Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong (photo) will officially open Marina One and Duo, two mixed development projects developed by M+S Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Temasek Holdings (Pvt) Ltd and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
These two iconic projects, which arose from the full implementation of the Points of Agreement on Malayan Railway Land in 2011, is expected to bring tangible, mutual benefits to both countries.
Lee and his wife, Ho Ching will then host a private dinner for the prime minister and his wife later in the evening.
On Tuesday, both prime ministers will kick off the retreat with a four-eye meeting at the Istana followed by delegation meetings which see the presence of both leaders, together with their ministers and senior officials.
The highlight of the retreat will see both leaders witnessing the signing ceremony of Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) link bilateral agreement between Abdul Rahman and Singapore's Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan, as well as the signing of memorandum of understanding between Singapore and Malaysia, which will be inked by Mahdzir and Ng.
