Pahang MB pledges to resolve land title issues by March, says PSM

Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob has set March next year as a deadline to resolve issues surrounding permanent land title applications from small-time farmers and residents in Cameron Highlands.

According to Parti Sosialis Malaysia's Cameron Highlands division secretary B Suresh Kumar, Adnan made the promise during a meeting with 13 residents at his office in Kuantan yesterday.

“The menteri besar has agreed on a time frame to resolve the families’ problems. Within that time frame, March next year was set as the target for the problems to be resolved.

“Pahang MIC chairperson Dato Guna (R Goonasakaren) was appointed as the person to handle this issue,” Suresh said in a statement today.

Suresh said that they decided to spend a night outside the Wisma Sri Pahang building and they were eventually invited to meet with the menteri besar (photo) yesterday.

Suresh was not present at the meeting. He claimed that Adnan had only agreed to meet the residents, without him.  

“I agreed with the condition and asked the residents to meet with the MB in my absence,” he said.

The residents are members of a PSM land, housing and shops committee chaired by Suresh.

It was previously reported that Adnan had lost his cool during the meeting and told the group gathered outside the building to leave.

In a video of the encounter, posted by PSM on Facebook, the menteri besar became annoyed when a woman vented her frustration.

"If you can wait for 40 years, why not (another) 10 years? Awak banyak bayak cakap, sila balik (You talk too much, please leave).

"Okay? Bye-bye. Vanakam, vanakam, nandri (hello, hello, thank you)," Adnan said and walked into the building.

Previously, Suresh had also led a group to seek a meeting with Adnan outside his office in 2012, but all 31 of them were arrested by the police.

Following the arrests, it was reported at the time that Adnan had promised to resolve the same issue within six months.- Mkini
