Jamal lodges report against Dr M, Siti Hasmah for 'royal insolence'

Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos has lodged a police report against Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Ali, and former minister Zaid Ibrahim.
Jamal said he had lodged a report over the trio's "disobedience to the Rukun Negara, and about their pride and insolence towards the Selangor sultan.”
Mahathir and his wife had returned awards conferred upon them by the Selangor palace, after Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah cautioned the former premier that his anger against the current federal administration would “burn" the whole country.
Jamal viewed the couple's move as a sign of “protest” against the Selangor ruler.

“After he (Mahathir) received a little bit of criticism from the Selangor sultan, in a childish way he threw a tantrum and returned his awards. This means (the move) is a protest, that is my interpretation of it,” he said.
He criticised the pair for failing to abide by the Rukun Negara, brandishing a brown exercise book commonly used by school students to illustrate his point.
“Today I have brought a school exercise book that is used by students…(to show that) the Rukun Negara is printed (on the back cover). We as Malaysians should abide by the Rukun Negara, we have read it every day since we were in school.
“Mahathir should return to Standard 1 and study the Rukun Negara,” he told reporters after lodging his report at the Dang Wangi police station this afternoon.
Though one of its tenets is to be loyal to the king, the Rukun Negara is not a legally binding instrument.

Jamal also similarly criticised Zaid, who had tweeted that the Selangor ruler “should be careful with his words” and that “no one is immune when the country burns.”
“I characterise Mahathir, his wife and Zaid as individuals who do not abide by the Rukun Negara,” said Jamal.
Jamal previously torched and hammered cardboard cutouts of Zaid alongside the Umno annual general meeting last week, even threatening to “hunt down” the latter.
Jamal was remanded for two days by police over the threat.- Mkini
