Bersatu will stop calling its youth wing Armada, pending approval from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for the name change.
"Bersatu will adhere that the Bersatu Youth name stated in the party constitution will be used for now," party secretary-general Shahruddin Md Salleh said in a statement today.
Previously, the ROS warned that Bersatu could be deregistered if its youth wing continued to use the Armada name.
Bersatu had said that it had amended its constitution at an extraordinary general meeting on Nov 2, 2016.
It had sent an updated copy to the ROS on the matter but has yet to get a reply.
Meanwhile, Shahruddin said the party is also seeking the ROS' approval for its AGM to be postponed to next year.
He cited how the party was still in the process of setting up its branches nationwide, and that this was needed before an AGM can be held.
He said Bersatu will meet with the ROS again on Nov 30. -Mkini
