DAP to Wan Junaidi: Why the '20 year silence'?

Cabinet minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar's admission that he had held his tongue for two decades on Putrajaya's unwillingness to help Sarawak was a reflection of BN's failures, said a Sarawak DAP man today.
Dr Kelvin Yii, an aide to Sarawak DAP leader Chong Chieng Jen, said Wan Junaidi had inadvertently admitted that PBB and Sarawak BN could not safeguard Sarawak's interest and was only motivated by self-interest.
"Why only now when Dr Mahathir Mohammad and Anwar Ibrahim are part of the opposition, that they start to shift the blame towards them for all that is lacking in our state.
"Wan Junaidi himself was elected into parliament during the Mahathir-administration, but yet chose to remain quiet, even when, as he allegedly claimed, Mahathir did nothing for the state," said Yii in a statement today.
Earlier today, Wan Junaidi brushed off suggestions that the large turnout at a Pakatan Harapan rally last night had an impact on Sarawakian politics.
He also claimed that the crowd was curious about the "rubbish" spoken by Mahathir and that the latter had never done anything for the state.
BN made things worse
Wan Junaidi, who is also a Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) supreme council member, claimed that Anwar had failed to deliver on his promise to build 31 schools in Sarawak when the latter was part of the Mahathir administration.
Yii said that although he will not defend Mahathir for his past, Wan Junaidi's statement had proven that BN had allowed Sarawak's rights to be gradually eroded.
Chief among these issues was the ceding of oil revenue to the federal government, the constitutional amendments in 1976, which downgraded Sarawak's status in relation to Malaya, as well as the implementation of the Territorial Sea Act 2012, which limits Sabah and Sarawak's jurisdiction to three nautical miles from the coastline.

"It is also interesting to note that Mahathir wasn't the prime minister during those turning points that robbed us of our rights.
"Pakatan Harapan has pledged to honour the rightful rights of the state and promised equitable governance for the whole federation.
"It is thus important for us to work towards a better and equitable future for our nation and for our children," said Yii.- Mkini
