After being summoned by Jawi, Turkish journalist detained at KLIA

Turkish journalist Mustafa Akyol was detained at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening.
This was confirmed by the Islamic Renaissance Front (IRF), which had invited Mustafa to speak at a series of forums in Kuala Lumpur.

"After being harassed and summoned by (the) Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi), Akyol (is) now being detained by immigration at KLIA," IRF said on Twitter.
Mustafa was scheduled to speak at a forum titled "The Islamic Jesus: The Commonalities Between Judaism, Christianity and Islam" at Nottingham University this afternoon.

However, the event did not proceed after it raised the ire of Jawi, which insisted approval was needed from the religious department for the talk.
Jawi has also summoned Mustafa for questioning under Section 11 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act for allegedly preaching without accreditation.
IRF director Ahmad Farouk Musa was also questioned for allegedly abetting Mustafa.
IRF, in another tweet, condemned Mustafa's detention.
"We suspect it might have to do with Jawi. Creeping Talibanisation," it said.- Mkini
