PKR: Ensure Isa is brought to justice

The arrest of former Felda chief Isa Abdul Samad may seem like a major move, but it would be meaningless if it was all an act, said a PKR leader.
PKR vice president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin said the government must ensure that Isa is brought to justice.
"What's more important is not just the arrest. PKR stresses that Isa must be brought to justice to determine if there is corruption, abuse of power and financial misappropriation when he was Felda chairperson.
"The government should not put on a play by making a series of arrests without anyone being brought to justice. The people are tired of arrest without charges," Shamsul Iskandar said in a statement today.
Isa was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday to facilitate a probe into the purchase of a luxury hotel in London by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC).
Shamsul said if there is prima facie evidence against Isa, then he should be charged.
Meanwhile, a Terengganu PAS activist Naraza Muda said the arrest of Isa was a ploy to make people forget about all the alleged corruption that has taken place in Felda.
"(Felda settlers) can say among themselves that 'Isa is evil, the traitor is Isa, now Isa has been fired and arrested.'
"(They can say) 'Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has cured Felda. Najib loves Felda. Najib did not betray us, he saved us'," Naraza said in a statement.
The PAS man said this, along with goodies Najib previously announced for Felda settlers, was meant to ensure that the community remains with BN in the next general election.
As for DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, he questioned how Najib could have appointed Isa as acting Land Public Transport Commission (Spad) chairperson if he knew Isa was allegedly corrupt.

"(Najib) should have received thick dossiers about Isa being a problematic candidate for any top public post because of his controversial role as Felda and Felda Global Ventures chairperson, raising grave issues about integrity, breach of trust and abuse of power," Lim said in a statement.
Isa had been appointed as Spad chief after he quit his post in FGV, following a spat with the latter firm's CEO.
Lim wants to know how Isa's arrest by the MACC would impact on his position as Spad chairperson. - Mkini
