NGO Lodges Police Report, Calls For Investigation Into Kit Siang’s Actual Birth Place

(NST) – Non-governmental organisation Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin (PMSP) has urged the police to act quickly on a report that it has lodged on the actual birth place of DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
PMSP president Ramesh Rao said the NGO lodged the report on Aug 9 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor as the NGO is concerned that Lim, on various occasions, has refused to answer questions regarding his actual place of birth.
“We have received information from veteran DAP members that Lim was born in Fujian, China and came to Malaysia in 1957. He has said before that he was born in Batu Pahat, Johor while on other occasions he said he was born in Penang and Melaka.
“This is important because as a member of Parliament, he is privy to a lot of secrets and information on Malaysia.
“We are worried that he might share this information with those from outside the country, which could affect the country’s sovereignty and security,” said Ramesh.
He said he is puzzled as to why Lim continued to refuse to answer such a simple question.
“Does he have something to hide or is there a ploy?” said Ramesh when speaking to the media after meeting with officers from the Batu Pahat police headquarters regarding the report here today.
He said if the investigations revealed that Lim was in fact born in China, the organisation would asked the Election Commission to relieve him as a member of Parliament and for the National Registration Department to revoke his citizenship.
“We would also submit a memorandum to the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to ask the ruler to expel Lim from Johor,” said Ramesh.
On Aug 2, Ramesh was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying that Lim’s Wikipedia page had stated that he had “arrived in Malaysia in 1957” when the page was accessed last month.
However, he claimed the page had been subsequently edited by a “Shensihao” and the information on Lim’s alleged arrival was erased.
Lim has yet to answer to the issue since it was brought up by Ramesh. During a press conference in Parliament on Aug 2, Lim took on reporters and fumed when they questioned him on the issue.
