Mahathir says Jho Low should not fear returning home

With his trademark sarcasm, former premier Dr Mahathir Mohmad called on businessman Jho Low to return to Malaysia.
He claimed Low had nothing to fear because atttorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali would ensure he is not arrested.
“You (Low) shouldn't be scared, with the attorney-general around, you won't be arrested.
"But if you were to come here, we will hammer," he told a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) ceramah in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Mahathir has often criticised Mohamed Apandi over the investigations concerning Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak although the government repeatedly denied there was a cover-up.
Low, whose real name is Low Taek Jho, is a Penang-born businessman and a central figure in the 1MDB scandal.
Earlier, Mahathir joked about Najib purportedly receiving financial advice from his "good friend" Low.
Mohamed Apandi has previously said that there is no evidence that 1MDB (in which scandal Jho Low has been implicated) money has been misappropriated, but vowed that action will be taken if sufficient evidence surfaced.
On another matter, Mahathir responded to what he described as Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz's accusation of him "stealing money".
"He can make those accusations and he can lodge a police report over it.
"(But) I have returned all gifts, including 26 cars, I had received when I was prime minister, back to the government.
"You can go to Langkawi and see what I have returned. It amounts to RM1 million or more," he said.

Nazri had challenged Mahathir to disclose the election expenditure for the 22 years when the latter was prime minister.
Pointing out how Mahathir had ruled through five general elections, Nazri urged Mahathir to reveal how much he had collected and spent.
"When I contested and he was Umno president and prime minister, I never asked him where he got the money, but he asked Najib and made him look like a crook," Nazri had said.- Mkini
