Strip my citizenship too, Bersatu Youth chief tells NGOs

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said those seeking to revoke citizenships granted to non-Malays from 1957 to 1970 should push for his citizenship to be stripped as well.
"If you want to strip them of their citizenship, I suggest that you strip my citizenship as well.
"I might be a Malay by ethnicity, but I stand proudly with my Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Iban, etc, brothers and sisters, Because in the end, we are all united as Malaysians.
"An attack against them is an attack against me," Syed Saddiq said in a statement today.
A coalition of Malay NGOs, Bertindak, yesterday called on the government to revoke the citizenships granted to  non-Malays in the first 13 years after independence, claiming that due process was not followed, since there was no oath-taking ceremony.
Bertindak referred to the First Schedule of the Federal Constitution, which contains the oath for applications for registration or naturalisation.
The oath is to declare loyalty to the country and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
By Bertindak's estimation, 1.75 million Malaysians obtained their citizenships through this method, between 1957 and 1970.
This does not include non-Malays who obtained citizenship via the principles of jus soli.
According to the Federal Constitution, every person born in the federation on or before Malaysia Day on Sept 16, 1963, is a citizen by operation of law, and not through registration or naturalisation.
Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq said the NGOs are a "disgrace to the Malay community".
“Members of Bertindak seem to also forget that they had been taught by non-Malay teachers, have non-Malay friends and have been aided by non-Malay doctors before.

"Yet, they seek to strip these Malaysians of their citizenship,"
