No more VX agent in Malaysia, says top cop

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said there is no more VX nerve agent, which was used in the murder of Kim Jong-nam, in the country.
"We will know if there is (more)," he told a press conference after attending the 210th Police Day.
Police have found in its preliminary report that Jong-nam was killed by the VX nerve agent, which the UN classified as a weapon of mass destruction.
Meanwhile, Khalid acknowledged that the suspects of Jong-nam's murder were still inside the North Korean embassy in Kuala Lumpur, but the police would not breach any international protocol and rules to go inside to get them.
"It is all right, we have all the time," he said, adding that the North Korean embassy has yet to respond to Malaysia's request to hand over the suspects to the police.
Khalid was also asked about the message the suspects attempted to send out when they were caught busy playing snooker in the one-minute video aired by a Japanese TV station.
"It is all right, they can send whatever message they like, I have delivered my message to them," he responded.
Without revealing the details, Khalid said the police is making progress in the murder investigation.
"Of course there is progress, surely we must progress in our investigation. But, I am not sharing it with you," he said.
Khalid also believed that his demand for North Korea to surrender the suspects would not jeopardise the safety of the nine Malaysians still stranded in North Korea.
"This is purely our duty to investigate cases of murder, so I don't want to be dragged into politics.
"The police is performing its duty on a case of murder, it is a criminal offence here in the country and we are duty-bound to investigate," he said.
On Feb 13, Jong-nam was assassinated while he was waiting at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) for a flight to Macau.
The victim, who carried a passport bearing the name Kim Chol, died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital.
North Korea and Malaysia have barred each other's citizens from leaving their countries.

Meanwhile, Khalid promised to look into the case of missing Perlis activist Amri Che Mat, who was said to have been kidnapped in a similar manner like pastor Raymond Koh.
"I have to check, that's news to me. I am not seeing the report yet," he said.
Amri was last seen on Nov 24, 2016 before he left home and his vehicle was found by the police the next day.
Koh was abducted by several masked man in black SUVs after blocking his car in Petaling Jaya on Feb 13.- Mkini
