MIC condemns anti-Ambiga protests too, says Subra

MIC deputy president S Subramaniam said his party is against the series of protests targeted at Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreevanesan, and discouraged such actions.
NONESubramaniam said in a statement today that his response to a journalist's question on Ambiga yesterday was not reported in full.
Yesterday, he dismissed a question from a journalist who asked if the personal attacks on Ambiga at her home had racial overtones, saying that the protestors saw her as the leader of Bersih.
"They have stated their disapproval of such protests. Yes, Ambiga is part of our community but the public's anger is directed at her because of her role in the movement," he had told reporters.
Sections of the public were disappointed with his stance.
"I also said that the MIC condemned such actions as do MCA, and Umno," he clarified today.

NONE"As a citizen she should be given all the protection necessary and her rights respected. All fair thinking Malaysians don't condone such actions," he said.
Subramaniam added that nobody would know the real intention of the people who did it, and hoped that the attacks on her were not because of her sex or because of her race.
Ambiga's residence at Bukit Damansara has been the centre of media attention of late as detractors staged protests ranged fromburger selling, butt exercises to threatening to hold a night market.
